Protecting the schedule

Complex programmes rarely come unstuck because people are not trying. They come unstuck at the joins. Handover points are unclear, ownership is blurred, assumptions drift, and decisions sit between teams. That ambiguity turns into cost through delay, rework, churn, contractual friction, and leaders spending their time firefighting rather than leading.

Interface Mapping is a practical, facilitated method for making those joins explicit. We work with your delivery teams and partners to map the real dependencies that drive performance. Who needs what from whom, by when, to what standard, and what happens when it does not arrive. We then translate that into a shared operating picture with clear interfaces, named owners, agreed handshake points, and sensible escalation routes.

Each session is shaped around your context. This works particularly well for mobilisation, multi supplier delivery, complex design and delivery handovers, and stabilising governance and decision making. People leave with clarity they can use immediately. Fewer “I thought you were doing that” moments, faster decisions, and a calmer delivery rhythm.

As facilitators, we also take on the role of chief writer and synthesiser, capturing the map live and turning the outputs into a concise pack that supports follow through. The goal is not a diagram for its own sake. It is a shared working system that reduces friction, strengthens collaboration, and makes performance repeatable.

At the core of our approach is purposeful design. Clean communication, trust at interfaces, and shared accountability. These are the foundations of reliable delivery, and they are often the most overlooked drivers of programme performance.

Our team HELPS ORGANISATIONS IMPROVE DELIVERY PERFORMANCE BY:

  • Clarifying ownership: making it explicit who owns each interface, handover, and decision point, and what “good” looks like.
  • Reducing rework and churn: aligning assumptions early so design, delivery, and assurance are not constantly correcting one another.
  • Speeding up decisions: defining decision rights and escalation routes so issues move quickly to the right level, with the correct data.
  • Improving collaboration across silos: mapping the real “give and get” between functions, suppliers and partners to build trust and delivery rhythm.
  • Strengthening governance: connecting day-to-day interfaces to governance so meetings focus on the right risks, not noise.
  • Exposing hidden risks early: surfacing dependencies, constraints and failure modes before they become schedule pain or commercial disputes.

Interface Mapping

We apply factory thinking to complex delivery so every team gets what they need, when they need it, to the agreed standard. Interface Mapping makes handovers, dependencies, and decision points explicit, reducing friction and rework.
